What is a SQUAT?

When you sit on a chair, that’s a squat!
When you sit on the toilet, that’s a squat!
When you sit in your car, that’s a squat!
Every time you sit and then stand back up, that’s a squat!
Why do a SQUAT?
The squat challenges all of the major muscle groups in your upper and lower body, such as your glutes (bum), quads and hams in your upper legs, and calves, soleus and tibialis muscles in your lower legs.
Let’s not forget all your core muscles and low back muscles, in your upper body too!
Squats not only make you stronger but they also protect your joints, improve your balance, and prevent falls. Your knees and hips will love you!
How to do a BASIC SQUAT

Stand up straight and make sure your feet are below your hips.
Slowly lower your glutes (bum) and your pelvis (hips) so your thighs are parallel to the floor.
Pause for a few seconds.
Stand back up.
The slower you move, the better.
Focus on what you feel along the way.
Pay close attention to your form because the right position of your back and legs will give you the most benefit from the movement.
30 Day Challenge
There are many different ways to SQUAT.
Find the squat that best suits your needs at the moment. Some are more difficult than others.
Once you have decided which SQUAT you will do for your challenge, do 10 repetitions of the movement at the same time each day for 30 days.
Good Luck! Once you complete the challenge, share how you felt about the challenge with a friend or loved one.
