Human 2.0: Physiotherapy and Gym in Ottawa

Hi, Rob Fox here from Silverfox Fitness. For the past 10+ years, my daughter Amanda, and her husband Christopher, have been operating a wellness centre in Ottawa called Human 2.0.

Amanda is in charge of the social media (Youtube and TikTok) for Human, while Dr. Chris Raynor has his office there. Both are co-owners of the gym, and responsible for its healthy living ethos.

At the physical location of Human 2.0, there are therapists, such as physio and massage therapists, and they run classes there, for athletes at every level.

How do I fit in? While Silverfox is a separate entity at the moment, we do share many philosophies when it comes to fitness and wellness.

Over the years, we’ve spent a lot of time discussing various fitness trends, and applications that will address them in the best possible way.

Personally, I resonate a lot with the following famous quote:

Life is like the river, sometimes it sweeps you gently along and sometimes the rapids come out of nowhere.”

What Makes Human 2.0 Unique?

Since I am a staunch supporter of the Human 2.0 philosophy, I’d like to take a minute and share some details about their approach, starting with a bit of history.

Human 2.0—also stylized as Human v2.0—was established around 2016 in the Southkeys area of Ottawa, located at 2202 Thurston Drive.

As its name suggests, the company blends rehabilitation and high-performance fitness, aiming to help clients evolve toward a higher version of themselves — physically, functionally, and mentally.

At its core, lies the belief that movement is medicine.

Human 2.0 strives to bridge the traditional divide between clinical care and fitness: integrating sports medicine, orthopedic surgery, physiotherapy, and specialized training under one roof.

Services Offered Today

Human 2.0 offers an impressive array of services and programming, that I highly recommend:

  • Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine: Consultations and treatments led by Dr. Chris Raynor—co-founder and a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist.
  • Integrated Physiotherapy & Fitness Training: A multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, massage therapists, kinesiologists, and strength coaches, delivers both active physiotherapy and performance coaching tailored to each client.
  • Movement Education: Focused training in foundational, functional movement patterns like squatting, lifting, pushing, pulling, lunging, and rotating—designed to improve daily function and long-term mobility.
  • Group Fitness & Personal Training: Led by specialists such as Emma Bissonnette (Olympic weightlifting & mobility), Hannah Clement (strength & conditioning), Dan Jones (tactical training and sports performance), and others.
  • Supportive Facility: The movement studio spans over 6,500 sq ft, with turf space, extensive weight equipment, and a setup befitting both rehab and high-performance training.

Philosophy

The ethos at Human 2.0 emphasizes hard work, functional movement, and personal responsibility.

Their culture fosters a supportive, no-shortcuts environment—where even though clients sweat, they leave feeling stronger, healthier, and more mobile.
